RICE Summer School Enrichment Skills Program Enrichment and Skills Programs give students the opportunity to explore new fields and prepare for future studies. Courses are designed to highlight students' strengths and to enrich their experiences. Lone Star Scholars Academy - Texas Lutheran University The Lone Star Scholars Academy is a two-week residential program that offers university-level courses for transferable college credit to academically gifted high school students. Each LSSA student will participate in two courses taught by select TLU faculty. Small classes, awesome field trips, fun evening activities and a group service project are what make LSSA the best thing going this July. Houston Chronicle Summer Workshop The Houston Chronicle and the University of Houston sponsor a free, four-week summer workshop for high school students interested in journalism who will be seniors in the fall. High school students in Harris, Montgomery, Liberty, Chambers, Galveston, Brazoria, Fort Bend or Waller county are eligible to apply. Classes will be conducted by Houston Chronicle staff reporters, editors, photographers and graphic artists. Subjects include reporting, writing, editing, and interviewing practices and principles of photojournalism, graphics and newspaper design. Summer Mini-College Fairs During the summer many four year universities visit community colleges. Our Houston Area Regional Representative group has put together MINI COLLEGE FAIRS across the Houston area. Many rising seniors took advantage of our visits last year. Over 20 four-year universities have signed up for these Mini College Fairs. This is a great opportunity for your students to gain valuable information about colleges and their admission requirements!
