Apply for NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing
No, you don't have to wait until you are a high school senior to be recognized for your achievements in computer science! The NCWIT (National Center for Women and Information Technology) Award for Aspirations in Computing recognizes young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. The award process encourages continued interest in computing, attracts the attention and support of educational and corporate institutions, and emphasizes at a personal level the importance of women's participation in science and technology.

This is a national recognition. 2009 is the first year that affiliate award programs will also take place in Texas, Illinois & Florida. These local awards are possible through generous grants from the
Motorola Foundation and Google. The application period is the same for state and national awards and students who apply from these states will be entered into both the local and national competitions. Affiliate award prize packages will vary. National prize packages include $500 in cash, a laptop computer, provided by Bank of America, a trip to attend the Bank of America Technology Showcase and Awards Ceremony held in Charlotte, North Carolina on March 27, 2010 and an engraved award for both the student and the student's school.

Zonta Club of Houston is proud to announce its annual Young Women in Public Affairs scholarship award.  The local club is able to award $1250 to a deserving young, pre-university student, 16 to 21 years of age.  Usually, it is granted to a graduating senior, however, juniors are eligible.

Federation of Houston Professional Women Educational Foundation 2009 Scholarship

The scholarship recipients will be selected by the Foundation Governing Board. Members of the Foundation Governing Board and their dependents are not eligible to receive scholarships.    It is the applicant's responsibility to submit a complete and signed application and all the supporting documentation in one package which must be received on or before the deadline date.  The Foundation Governing Board accepts no responsibility for incomplete applications, applications not in proper form, lost applications, or any other submission in exception to the above instructions.    The scholarship award will be based on the committee's scores of the overall quality of the application and the supporting documentation.

Federation of Italian-American Organizations of Greater Houston, Inc.
FIAOGHI Scholarship - Recipients are chosen by the Scholarship Committee based on scholarship, leadership and financial need. The organization awards annual $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who are of Italian descent, to any degree on either side of paretange. The recipient may apply for a renewal of the scholarship every spring. The committee also determines the students SAT/ACT scores, class rank, high school GPA, the top 10 percentile of graduating class, awards and honors, extra curricular activities, community involvement, letters of recommendations and the narrative essay. The applicant's demonstrated financial need is considered which may include: the parent's and student's income, assets, trust funds, financial obligations and any other documented financial circumstances. Two scholarships are available: one for Federation Members only and one for any students of Italian descent.

The Links, Incorporated-Houston Chapter
Links Scholarship - The Links, Incorp. is an African American Women's Service Organization. Each year scholarships are awarded to college-bound Houston area students of color to assist them during the first semester of the freshman year. The scholarship amount is $2,000, and it is based on both grades and financial need. The student should have a B or better academic average and family income at or below $75,000 who wish to apply for this assistance. You may get an application at Houston_Scholarship@att.net.

If you know a student activist working to protect the civil rights afforded by our constitution, check out our scholarship program. The ACLU will be providing $12,500 to 16 high school seniors across the country who have demonstrated a dedication to civil liberties activism.
