Mu Alpha Theta
For the school year 2010-2011, we are proud to announce IWA's inaugural officers of Mu Alpha Theta.

On December 11, 2009, Incarnate Word Academy inducted 26 juniors and seniors into Mu Alpha Theta, the National High School Mathematics Honor Society. We congratulate the following students who now form the first inductees at IWA.

Mu Alpha Theta has more than 75,000 student members in more than 1,500 schools. It is dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school.
The Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society was founded in 1957 as "an organization dedicated to promoting scholarship in mathematics and establishing math as an integral part of high school education."
IWA is the only Catholic high school in the greater Houston area to have a Mu Alpha Theta Charter. To earn this distinction, inductees have completed two years of college preparatory mathematics, have met both IWA and national induction criteria, and have been recommended by Ms. Croatto and the math faculty of IWA. As members of Mu Alpha Theta, these students will compete in this spring's TAPPS math competitions, assist in formal tutoring their classmates in math, and promote and produce this spring's school wide Math Madness Week.
