Science Department Chair Stephen Comer, faculty sponsor of IWA's Environmental Club, led students on a clean-up mission to beautify our block in downtown Houston.

On a recent brisk and sunny afternoon during Flex, students grabbed protective gloves and plastic bags to scour the periphery of our block bordered by Jackson St., Capitol St., Crawford St., and Texas Ave.

In a little less than one hour, they filled more than 10 bags with a variety of trash. This type of civic-minded thoughtfulness is just one more reason our school is called "The Heart of Houston."
