IWA Brings Home President's Cup at Steps for Students

Let's call it a three-peat! For the third year in a row, Incarnate Word Academy won the President's Cup at the annual diocesan Steps for Students Run/Walk in downtown Houston. The President's Cup is awarded to the school with the highest number of participants per enrollment. Besides building camaraderie with fellow Catholic schools, the event returns proceeds raised to the respective schools. IWA directs those funds to support our expanding athletics programs.

In all, 56 area Catholic schools participated, and 9,000 runners registered. The event raised more than $500,000 this year. IWA's team featured current students, alumnae, and friends. Besides the run/walk, schools set up festive booths in the Catholic Village, where they shared home-cooked breakfasts, post-run snacks, school-branded swag, and admissions information. IWA students sponsored a popular face-painting booth where grade-school students and high school students lined up to have hearts, lightning bolts, sports graphics, and animals painted on their faces. Congratulations, Falcons, for showing such strong spirit for our school and for Catholic education in Houston.
