Robotics Team Soars During Rookie Year
The IWA Women of the Wires (WOW) FTC Robotics team, #25955, double advanced at their League Championship on February 1, to qualify for the Regional Championship, which will be on Saturday, February 15, at San Jacinto College.
Robotics Team accomplishments include:
- Winning Alliance – Advances to next level
- 2nd Place Inspire Winner (For the Best Overall Team) – Advances to next level
- 1st Place Connect – Awarded for the team's outreach and Girls STEM Day
- 2nd Place Think – Awarded for 2nd best portfolio, describing and documenting the engineering design process steps
- Because IWA's team is one of very few teams in the world to achieve a legal Level 3 Ascent (hang from the top bar), we were ranked 55th in the World at the end of the day on Saturday for End Game points, and are currently ranked 58th in the World, as of this week, for End Game points.
These accomplishments are astounding for a rookie team. Thanks to the following IWA students for their effort, determination, and enthusiasm: Katherine Gallagher, Leilani Tamez, Rebecca Peterson, Loly Nguyen, Kaitlin Trostmann, Emma Jackson, Gemma Rene, Trinity Welsch, Taran Boles, Madeline Pogorzelski, Fiona Little, Faith Puzon, Ava Bocock, Evelyn Garcia. Thanks also to the WOW mentors: Ann Marie Girardot, Amy Morriss and Briz Garcia.
