Congratulations to two IWA seniors who received recognition for their submissions in the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition. Senior Elissa Akuchie was awarded a Silver Key for her sculpture titled Metropolitan and Senior Natalie Birney received three Honorable Mentions.
A first semester Leading with Service group called, "Making Lives Better" had weekly visits at Summerhouse Houston–a Houston heights organization that supports young adults with intellectual disabilities. The semester-long project culminated in the group throwing a cast party for Summerhouse after their end-of-year talent show.
IWA Choir and Impact Dance Team joined the St. Thomas Singers, Concert Band, Strings, and Percussion ensemble for an evening of Christmas favorites old and new at Cemo Auditorium at St. Thomas High School.

The halls of IWA were transformed into a winter wonderland this week by a team of Leading with Service students.
Junior Dominique Nanquil was selected as a Soprano 2, and Freshman Elise Potier was selected as an Alto 2. They will perform in the All-State Choir Concert held at the Eisemann Center for the Performing Arts in Richardson, Texas, on January 26, 2019, conducted by Dr. Caroline Cruse from the Texas Tech University. Congratulations to these hard-working young musicians for their accomplishment in being selected for the All-State Choir!

This year, Sister Lauren is celebrating her 50th jubilee anniversary as a consecrated religious in the Congregation of Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament. In celebration of this jubilee year, the entire student body offered a decade of the rosary in theology class and collected notes into a prayer book.
