Dual Credit

IWA partners with Lone Star College to offer Dual Credit courses.

Lone Star College is a public, nonprofit community college system serving the northern portions of the Greater Houston area. Dual Credit is part of Lone Star College’s exceptional admissions program, designed specifically for high school students who are ready for college-level instruction.

Dual Credit Benefits

Students who demonstrate college readiness on a placement exam can earn college and high school credits simultaneously by attending classes at their high school or through a Lone Star College campus.

Many of the classes are transferable to public colleges or universities in Texas and some are accepted by out-of-state and private colleges.

The benefits of Dual Credit are many:

  • Gain experience with college-level academics while attending high school.
  • Ease transitions between high school and college.
  • Transfer credits earned in high school to Texas public colleges and universities.
  • Complete a post-secondary degree in fewer semesters.
  • Save money on college tuition.

IWA Offers Four Dual Credit Courses

  1. English III
  2. English IV
  3. U.S. Government
  4. U.S. History
