Requirements for admission to IWA's Dual Credit program include:

• Completed application;
• Qualifying scores on one of the following tests - SAT, ACT, PSAT/NMSQT, or the TSIA; and
• Review and approval by Dean of Academics Chris Shively.

1. How much does a dual credit course cost?
   The cost per course, per semester is $120.

2. Does the cost include books?
   No.  Books must be purchased separately.

3. What happens if a student earns a D or an F in a Dual Credit course?

• If a student earns a D in a dual credit course he/she may receive high school credit, however a D does not transfer to another institution. This would result in the student needing to retake the college course to transfer the credit earned.
• If a student earns an F in a dual credit course, he/she will not receive high school or college credit for the course. Students earning a dual credit grade below C will no longer be eligible to continue in the dual credit program.
• A student must earn a C or higher to continue to be eligible to enroll in dual credit courses

4. Can a student drop or withdraw from a Dual Credit course?

• If a student chooses to withdraw from a college course, he or she must meet with their high school counselor FIRST. The high school counselor can assist the student in withdrawing from the college side of a dual credit course. 
• Dual Credit Drop Form is not required from the student before the term begins. After the term begins, a student must complete a Lone Star College drop form so that the withdrawal from the Dual Credit course can be properly processed. Failure to complete a drop form could result in an F on a student's college transcript. 
• The student must complete and submit an official college Withdrawal Form at LSC prior to the college's last official date for withdrawal. Failure to do so could result in the student receiving an "F" on his/her official LSC transcript. The student will also need to work with the high school counselor to enroll in the appropriate high school course. 

5. I have accommodations for my high school classes, do I get them for my Dual Credit classes?

• Yes; however, the student must submit all required documentation through the Lone Star College Campus Disability Services Offices (click here for the link to the instructions).
• Because K-12 and Higher Education laws differ, it is important to note that K-12 documentation may not fully satisfy LSC documentation requirements. Contact the Lone Star College Campus Disability Services Office for more information.

6. What tests are accepted to show college readiness?

SAT, ACT, PSAT/NMSQT, and TSIA2. Depending on the course(s) you are taking, the score requirements will vary. Use this link to see the LSC score requirements. For test preparation tips, click here.

7. Can I retake the TSIA2 placement test if I do not score high enough to qualify for Dual Credit?

• Yes; however, you are limited to 3 retests. If you have not met the qualifying scores after the 3rd retest, then you will be removed from the course and placed in a College Prep (on-level) class.
• Retesting MUST be completed by the scheduled start date of the course (this will vary depending on the semester). 
• Students must pay a testing fee to retest.
