About Us

In 1873, a group of Incarnate Word Sisters established an all-girls, Catholic high school in downtown Houston on the corner of Crawford and Capitol Street.  Nearly 150 years later, the Academy they founded continues to prepare hundreds of young women for success in college and beyond.

We prepare students to be Women of the Word through a rigorous college-preparatory education rooted in Academics, Values, and Spirituality.  Our unique Young Leaders Program empowers students to bring ideas to life not only in the school community but in the real world.  Incarnate Word Academy is a thriving, close-knit community where girls are encouraged to succeed and we invite you to come see for yourself what sets Incarnate Word Academy apart.

Mission Statement

Incarnate Word Academy provides young women with a Catholic college preparatory education, helping them grow in their relationship with Jesus, the Incarnate Word, and live according to His values.

We employ our three cornerstones of Academics, Values, and Spirituality to educate young women in preparation for college and to assist each of them in growing in her relationship with Jesus, the Incarnate Word.  Our dedicated faculty inspires our students to work hard, be creative, and continue learning outside of the curriculum.  Our diverse student body cares for and supports each other on their journey through high school, making friendships that last a lifetime.
