Retreat Program

IWA’s retreat program is designed to build community within each classification while also providing personal space for prayer and reflection.

Retreat themes are selected yearly to help students grow in Spirituality and Christian living. Spirituality is a foundational pillar at IWA, and the formation and growth in the spiritual and community life of the school is enhanced through the retreat program. For this reason, attendance at the annual class retreats is a graduation requirement for all IWA students.

Freshmen Retreat

Sophomore Retreat

Activities, talks, and small group sharing provide sophomores the opportunity to reflect on their commitments and relationships while continuing to foster a life of prayer.

Retreat provides an opportunity for Sophomore students to press pause and take a break from school and other activities. Identity formation is a key theme for Sophomore level retreat. This retreat is facilitated by students on Campus Ministry Team.

Junior Retreat

Through witness talks, personal reflection, Eucharistic Adoration and group reflection, this retreat encourages students to actively live a life of faith.

This is an opportunity for students to develop a deeper relationship with Jesus the Incarnate Word. At the heart of this retreat is a deep experience of Reconciliation in which students are given the opportunity to seek mercy in the Sacrament of Confession. This retreat is facilitated by Senior Students on Campus Ministry Team.

Senior Retreat

Students grow in their relationship with Jesus, the Incarnate Word, through study, prayer and service.

As a capstone to the Retreat program and their time at IWA, the Senior retreat is a final bonding experience for the senior class.

Throughout this retreat, the students are given opportunities to reflect on their IWA experience, strengthen old friendships and discuss future endeavors. This retreat brings the class together and spiritually prepares students for the next step as Women of the Word. This retreat is directed by the Campus Minister with facilitation support from IWA Faculty members.

Additional Retreat Opportunities

IWA partners with local and national Catholic ministries to offer optional opportunities for students to grow in their faith and deepen their encounter with Jesus the Incarnate Word. These additional programs vary from year to year and often include student retreats, lock-ins, mini-retreats, mother-daughter retreats, and times of prayer. Past partnerships have been with Adore Ministries, NET Ministries and SMYRT at Texas A&M.
